Preparing Your ATV Tires and Rims
Serial Number | Name |
1 | Auto Wheels |
Before you begin the process of mounting new ATV tires onto Auto Forged Rims, it’s essential to gather all necessary tools. You will need a tire mounting machine, tire levers, a valve stem tool, soapy water or tire lubricant, and a torque wrench. Having all these tools ready will ensure a smooth installation process.
Next, make sure you have the right size tires for your rims. Check the specifications on both the tires and rims to confirm compatibility. Misalignment in size can lead to poor performance and safety hazards.
Once you have confirmed the sizes, prepare your work area. It should be clean and spacious enough to allow free movement. Lay down a tarp or cardboard to protect your flooring and provide a stable surface for your work.
Remove the old tires from the rims if you haven’t done so already. This step involves deflating the tires completely and using tire levers to carefully pry the tire off the rim. Take your time with this process to avoid damaging the rim.
Inspect both the rims and the new tires for any visible damage. Look for cracks, dents, or other imperfections that could affect performance. Ensuring everything is in optimal condition will contribute to a safer ride.
Mounting the New Tires
Start the tire mounting process by applying soapy water or tire lubricant to the bead of the new tire. This helps the tire slide onto the rim more easily without damaging either component.
Position the tire onto the rim, ensuring that it is aligned properly. Begin at one side of the rim and use the tire levers to push the tire bead over the edge of the rim. Be gentle but firm to secure the tire in place.
Once one side of the tire is on, repeat the process for the opposite side. Make sure both beads are seated correctly in their respective grooves. A misaligned tire bead can cause air leaks and uneven wear.
After both sides of the tire are mounted, check the seating again. Spin the wheel to see if it rotates evenly. If there are any wobbles, you may need to adjust the tire until it sits correctly.
Next, install the valve stem using the valve stem tool. This step is crucial for maintaining proper air pressure once the tire is inflated. Ensure the valve is secure and properly positioned before proceeding.
Finalizing the Installation
Inflate the tire to the manufacturer’s recommended pressure, which can usually be found on the sidewall of the tire. Use a reliable air compressor for this task and monitor the pressure closely as you inflate.
Once inflated, check for leaks by applying soapy water around the tire bead. Look for bubbles indicating escaping air. If you find any leaks, you may need to dismount the tire and reseat it.
After confirming that there are no leaks, tighten the rim bolts using a torque wrench. Adhere to the manufacturer’s specifications for torque settings to ensure the rim is securely attached to the hub.
Finally, balance the tire using a balancing machine or weights as needed. Properly balanced tires improve handling and extend the life of the tires and rims.
Your new ATV tires are now mounted on the Auto Forged Rims and ready for use. Before heading out, do a final inspection to ensure everything is in working order. Enjoy your ride!
